While this may not be a matter that can be explained in a few words, we can try to understand soul realization through its various stages.
The first stage of soul realization comes from the intellectual understanding that each of us is a spiritual being with divine intelligence, love, and power. The true essence is that we are not the physical body, thoughts, or emotions. Rather, thoughts and emotions are products of the soul’s expression.
The second stage is the experience of oneself as a soul during meditation. The meditator may experience that he or she ceases to feel the physical body, and may experience himself or herself as a being of light traveling in all directions through the physical and inner universe.
The third stage of soul realization is the experience of the incarnated soul (you) uniting with the higher soul and realizing that there is no separation. In this stage, the yogi also experiences oneness with other souls.
